This course gives practical guidance on construction project cost estimating, cost control, and claims analysis.

Hundreds of participants have saved time and money on their projects by applying the principles and techniques set forth in this dynamic course.

Particular attention is paid to the development of pricing data and understanding the perspective of owners, architects, engineers, bidders, contractors, subcontractors and other concerned parties with regard to quantifying the cost of a project's scope of work.

This course breaks down the construction cost engineering process into its component steps and reassemble it into a straightforward, logical methodology for the development of valid cost analyses of construction projects from the owner’s standpoint.

The proliferation of the use of innovative project delivery methods such as Design-Build and Construction Manager-at-Risk have fundamentally changed the way engineers must approach cost engineering to account for the shifts in professional responsibility inherent to these new delivery methods.

Benefits

You will learn how to develop: a conceptual cost estimate; make project-planning decisions that result in a Work Break-down Structure; develop a value-loaded construction schedule; understand the limitations of commercial estimating manuals and databases; create and properly coordinate a detailed estimate; and understand the cost engineering differences between traditional Design-bid-Build and Design-Build projects.

Audience

Engineers, civil engineers, project estimators, design professionals, architects, project managers and others.
